A career or a job? I choose to have a career, something that I would wake up every morning with a smile on my face. I want to SERVE! Service above self is greater than any job. When people think of “serve” they think I want to be a social worker. Yes the role of a social worker is to serve but why do other professions think they don’t serve? Every career serves people in various ways, so if one says that those who serve people are the poor average ones they are wrong. I am pursuing my education to be a Speech Pathologist and Audiologist, this has been my dream ever since I worked with special adults with speech impairments. I want to help those who are willing and have the potential to be educated by providing financial assistance to students who are US-Citizen and non-US Citizens but struggling to pay for education. My obstacle for many scholarships has been "Are You a U.S Citizen?” I am aspiring to prevent other incoming students into the college from the frustration of eligibility as a result of the fact that, there are many talented and bright minds in the world and I do not want this college to lose out on them. How will I be able to accomplish my dream by just being a Speech Pathologist? Truth be told, I know it will not be an easy task. My goal is to put myself out there in the world, while in college the best place for one to be is out your dorms and connecting with people in the same or different field as you. I say this because connecting with engineers, musicians, artist, nutritionist and scientist is a wonderful collaboration of a team of leaders who will improve the hearing and speech of our fellow ones. I will be doing research with engineers on how to build robotic elements to draw the kid’s attention to learn, research on many other experiments that will make my those kids be as normal as any other child they meet.
