Why I Want To Attend School

Let's face it. The school system is a mess. Most of the students here in EJPS either have no idea what they want to be when they grow up or have an unreachable goal regarding their future, and the school is as clueless as their pupils as to what to teach them to reach those goals. I would like to have a job in writing when I get older; I know I will probably never make a living wage off of that, but I would at least like to have a class that helps me perfect my pre-existing talent and help me figure out if I actually stand a chance. I am sure other students feel the same way. I, myself feel the school should have classes on writing poetry, song lyrics, and/or comedy, being that those are the only things I am actually good at. Having classes on subjects students are already good at and enjoy would boost their grades and give them a new will to learn. Having high test scores in a class on the subject they would like to do for a job would look incredible on an application to get into college to study that subject. Students would be genuinely happier and gain more friends in those classes by finding out who has common interests with each other. I understand the purpose of core classes, but some classes try to push these impressionable minds into pursuing careers they do not want. I do not mean teachers should help with every dream-- some dreams are stupid-- they should just tell the student what it takes to get the job they desire. For example, Little Billy wants to be president; his teacher should be required to tell him what he needs to do to get there, such as going to college, learning politics, keeping a clean record, getting known, and bribing properly. Little Jimmy, who wants to be a game designer, should be brought to the location where such an occupation takes place in a to conduct a scared straight-like interview on the people who he thinks are "living the dream". Doing this will allow him to find out about all the Ramen noodles and student loans from somebody who has walked that path, so he may learn if that job is worth focusing his entire life on, instead of blindly releasing him into the big world to find out the hard way what reality truly
