Leslie Morgan Steiner, TED talk “Why Domestic Violence Victims Don’t leave”, analyze how the violence victims interact with their situation. In her talk, Steiner discuss, why victims don't leave their abusers. Steiner argument, creates an argument based with the use of the method of appeal; pathos, an emotional appeal, ethos an appeal that provides credibility, and logos an appeal to logic. Steiner, established her argument using more pathos, while using logos and ethos it's just to support her position.
Even Though, Steiner uses rhetorical strategy of logos, it lacks full persuasive power because she did not offer the audience enough support for her claims. The facts she presents do not include sources or dates for these claims. For instance, she states, “Over the 70% murders happened after the victim has ended the relationship; after she gotten out, the abuser has nothing left to lose”, and “Over the 85% of abusers are men, and domestic abuse happens only intimate, …show more content…

Steiner appeals to her audience’s sense of fear, and shock. For example she tells the audience, by relating her life experience, she gains the audience’s attention “You know that place where Connor was supposed to feel so safe, he bought three guns. He kept one in the glove compartment of our car, he kept one under the pillows and the third one he kept in his pocket at all times”. Though this experience, author effectively relays her fear and consent to her audience. In addition, shock is presented as Steiner describes the acts of violence that she experiences, and how he used his anger as an excuse to hit her several times. Despite, the fear and emotions of her life experiences. Steiner, uses the experience to help the audience to make a change for the better.
