Nutrition plays a big part of on individuals everyday life. Today, nutrition tends to take a back seat to more interesting topics, such as profit margins, sports, and convivence. These are all well-known reasons on why people choose to drink sodas over water, and why others are still supporting sodas after knowing the different health issues they can cause (Westendorf, 418). An argument used by a lot of soda lovers, is that sodas can be just as healthy as water. Water and soda share a lot of similarities and differences; and over time each product is evolving into the generations. One of the many aspects that affect both of those things are, carbohydrates and glucose. These are two aspects that are found within sodas in large amounts (Miller, 66). Over drinking sodas can have a range of negative effects including tooth decay, dehydration, and weight gain. The sugar from a can or bottle of soda can stay on the surface of your teeth for hours, actively breaking down the layering of enamel. Leading to toothaches, cavities and tooth decay, after only four months of consuming a soda every day. Raised levels of caffeine and sugars can lead to dehydration. Drinking sodas while being active is not a good mix, resulting in your body searching for other sources of hydration.
