There are many jobs in the United States that are important and then there are some that are just for “fun and games” and entertainment. But have people ever realized that the ones for entertainment get paid much more than any other, professional athletes? Professional athletes should not be paid their extensive salaries due to the fact the games are merely a form of entertainment, sports not require massive amounts of education, and the money could be used in more beneficial ways. Professional athletes do not deserve the money they make in anyway and are very overpaid. “In a time when many Americans are struggling to make mortgage payments, student loan payments, and find good employment, it sometimes becomes frustrating to hear about someone who make millions playing a `game, demand more money and then get it” (Mueller). The players do not need a good education, only need to know what to do for the plays, and do not need much real life responsibility and knowledge about anything, all essentially professional athletes need to know is what they are supposed to do for the play, remember simple things that their coaches tell them and know when and where they need to go for games and practices, that is it. But athletes do need to be good at what they do in the sport and do need to understand almost everything about it, but it is still very simple, its not like they have to map and remember the world or which body part does what, it is just very simple things that even little ten year olds can understand. “They get so much for making mistakes; all professional athletes make mistakes, so why pay them so much? They get paid like they are perfect all the time, but realistically they are not even close” (Debate.org).
