The salaries of athletes are outrageously high proofing athletes are overpaid. While athletes are making millions just for playing a position for a professional sport. While the average firefighter makes 48,000 dollars per year and the president of the United States salary is 400,000 dollars. The 3 reasons athletes are overpaid and shouldn’t be payed as much are they get payed more than an army general that has served for 20 years, the players need to learn long term financial and social consequences, and others provide better services such as programmers, military service, firefighters and many more. Their first reason is that athletes help generate enormous profits. According to kelsey O’connor We are paying athletes ridiculous amounts of money to physically perform on national television for public entertainment. Meanwhile, soldiers, firefighters and policemen perform physically to save the lives of others on a daily basis. The athletes may generate enormous profits but not for the hard working middle class but for their franchise they are a part of. The second reason is Lebron James is worth twice his 100 million dollar deal. Well according to forbes magazine Lebron James's annual salary is 30.96 million dollars per year while Barack Obama’s salary was only 400,000 dollars per year. Doesn’t it seem harder to run a country rather than play a professional sports? The final reason is that athletes are worth every penny. While people might like watching Steph Curry drain a 3 pointer to win a game it shouldn’t mean he should get paid an outrageously high amount of money.
