Put into Misery Do you think animals should be put into zoos? Well they shouldn't, because they are put into misery and they also suffer in their cages. A zoo is where workers keep animals in cages and take care of them. There are different animals at a zoo like, giraffes, zebras, gorillas, crocodiles, birds, etc… The popularity of zoos are very high because so many people visit zoos everyday. Also certain seasons you can feed some of the different animals, like a giraffe. Zoos are very inhumane, because the animals are put to their misery inside of their cages Lions and tigers have around 18,000 times less space in a zoo and Polar bears have one million times less space when living in a zoo. Animals can become depressed and lifeless when living in a zoo. They start showing unnatural behavior such as pacing and sleeping all the time. …show more content…
Even some animals die at an early age from being taken away from their parents. If the zoo lets the animals back to their habitat they wouldn't be able to survive from being at the zoo for so long because they don’t have natural instincts to survive. On the other side, zoos capture the animals to make money. They are basically putting the animals life at risk. For a solution to that problem they could go on safaris so the animals could stay in their original habitat. In conclusion, I hope one day all the zoos will be shut down, so that the animals can live their life in their natural habitat so suffering will go away and they will not be put into misery. So I think animals should not be put in
From a Ted Talk said by Gabriela Mastromonaco from the Toronto Zoo, she says “That zoos serve and important purpose beyond from this entertainment and are vital to the future of the animal world.” She tells us how the zoos today save many endangered species. “1. We care for and breed animals that have been wiped from the wild, or reduced to very small numbers. 2. We store genetic material, such as sperm and eggs, that can be used in the future to breed offspring.” She concludes by telling us how zoos save many species every year and how they can save a whole group of animals.
Have you ever seen an animal sitting in a cage all alone with nothing to do. Well, zoos are trying to change that fact. They will allow the animals to live in an environment that is like their home. Many people don't realize this, but zoo are keeping and breeding these animals because they would not survive in the wild alone. In the three passages, ¨The Stripes Will Survive,¨ ¨The Zood Go Wild from No More Dodos,¨ ¨Our Beautiful Macaws and Why They Need Enrichment.¨ All of these articles present one claim, that is that the role of zoos is no longer to keep animal, but to protect them.
Keeping animals locked in cages, bored and cramped up in such a small space is an awful sight to show the children. It creates an image in the little minds of children that animals are to be treated like they don’t matter. They say Zoos are a place where children can learn about the wild, exotic animals, but in reality it doesn't teach them anything only that they are meant to be caged up, which is wrong. Also, it is really painful to see the animals bored and lonely, so why should people keep letting them do this to these beautiful creatures. Animal captivity for entertainment should end to let them go to their rightful home.
When people go on a trip to the zoo, it can be assumed that they do not think about much more than what they can see. Signals that make zoos unfair and sometimes unbearable for the captive animals are not visible to most spectators. This essay will explain how zoos are unjust and should not be supported. Animals should not be held captive due their negative behavioral changes, lack of natural habitat and the zoos failure to effectively preserve endangered species.
We shouldn’t get rid of zoos because they educate the public, animals are safe there, and animals don’t have to struggle with getting food there. Not only should be keep zoos because of that but also because It helps with the environment, you may be wondering how, but it is one of the few things that teach kids anything. Now aren’t you surprised about all of the good ways zoos help people, So the next time you go to a zoo think about those happy animals that would probably be dead if they were still in the wild. Think about debating against PETA and how you are saving an animals life by the
For example, they have been physically and mentally destroyed. That is bad because they could die in the cages. This is also bad because they could not forget important things like to eat and not to hurt the zookeepers. This shows that they do not like the cages and could die from being in the cages too long. Also, some animals bite at the bars on the cages or pound on the glass because they are unhappy from being in cages too long. That is bad because they could they could break their teeth or their beak and not be able to eat so they could die from starvation. Also, a gorilla could run and pound on the glass and break it, they could escape the cage, he could hurt people and run out of the zoo and out onto the streets. This all shows that animals do not like the cages and zoos should be
When your parents tell you, “We’re going to the zoo today,” usually the first expressions that come to mind are excitement and surprise. You may also think to yourself, “Oh, yes! We get to see the tigers today! Those are my most favorite animals ever!” Believe me that is the exact same thing I think. At the same time, I feel sorry. Why? Keeping animals in a zoo is not fair to the animals. I believe that zoos should be changed (to the animals benefit and not just ours) in the United States.
While it is true for the most part that animals are being well taken care of in zoos, animals are wild; therefore, they can take care of themselves in the wild. Also in the wild, animals live in packs and groups, so they can socialize with similar species. Once again, I am going to use the example of elephants from Last Chance for Animals to demonstrate. In the wild, elephants live in huge family packs, with as many as 100 members. They get very emotionally attached to these family members, and have even been seen crying when a family member has passed. In captivity, these animals only live with 2 or 3 other elephants at maximum. Often, they do not even get to properly bond because by the time they become acquainted zoos move animals around. Sadly sometimes, they even live alone (Last Chance for Animals). In my eyes, taking these animals away from their social groups equates to humans being forced to leave their friends and family and never seeing them
Animals live longer in a zoo than they do in the wild. Animals live longer because they get fed better and are protected from other predators. The animals do not have to go days without eating and worrying about the other animals taking there food or killing them. Also zoos are spending millions of dollars on zoos so it is better for them to live in. Some people say that animals are better to live in the wild but that is not true because they are treated better in a zoo than they will ever be treated in the wild by humans. So if animals are kept in zoos they will live longer because they will get the nutrition that they need to survive and they are not getting that in the wild without risking their
Throughout the world, there are over 10,000 zoos for people to enjoy looking at the wild animals in cages. Zoos should be closed down because they are detrimental for the animals held in captivity. Yes, the cages are designed to look comparable to their natural habitat, but they all still suffer mentally. In the article “Should we have zoos?”, the author uses a quote provided by the Captive Animals’ Protection Society that states: “wild animals in zoos suffer physically and mentally as their complex social, behavioral and physical needs cannot be met in unnatural man-made environments” (paragraph 17). This quote states that animals cannot function correctly when they are held captive away from their natural environment. Controversially, some
On the other side of this topic some people are saying that it is good to keep wild animals in captivity. They say that keeping wild animals in captivity can help protect them. Other people think that zoos are a safe places so people can not get to wild animals horns and fur. Those people think that these animals are safer trapped in cages for there whole life rather than in the wild where they belong. Other people are saying if they have enough money to buy good food and big enough habitats the animals will be fine, they think it is
Thousands of people visit zoos annually, but they don't know what happens behinds those glass windows. Zoos give the privilege to be able for people to see animals, what they don't know is how they are being treated and the mental issues the animals have. Wild animals should be able to be more freely and not in tight and small areas where they are incapable of doing what they should naturally do. Zoos claim to ensure to gain knowledge but nothing is gained because their is noting that is enhancing learning. While the keeping of animals in zoos may prevent extinct, animals should have healthier environments as well as being taken care of properly.
Animals should be free and in the wild, sometimes the animals might not have enough space to roam around. As stated in “The Impact of Animal Protection,” if animals have a small space they are more than likely to go psychotic. Small spaces may make animals breed forceful, which may make the animals overpopulate and they will need to have to kill off some of the species. Trying to keep the animals in captivity to extend their lifespan isn’t as good as it seems, if you put animals in the zoo, they don’t have the challenges to build up their strength as they do in the wild. The animals have more challenges to build up their strength and endurance than they do in an animal park.
There's a tossup between whether keeping animals in zoos is bad or good. Some instances to determine this would be which zoo the animals would be staying in. A lot goes into establishing a zoo and providing adequate care for all of the animals. It's impossible to know if animals would be happier in natural environments or in a zoo environment. I believe keeping animals in zoos helps to protect them and gives caring people a chance to provide for them. It's a great place to take children to educate them on animals, as well as a great place to just spend the day and hang out.
Supporters of zoos argue that they help to conserve endangered species, but in fact they are not very good at this. Even the world famous panda-breeding programme has been very costly and unsuccessful. Also, zoo life does not prepare animals for the challenges of life in the wild. For example, two rare lynxes released into the wild in Colorado died from starvation even though the area was full of hares, which are a lynx’s natural prey.
