The main cause of WWI I believe are Alliances and militarism. Alliances caused the war to be bigger and bloodier and caused more country to get involved. Militarism caused countries to think another country was trying to build an army to attack them. Also the arms race caused more powerful and deadly weapons that country used in their armies and other countries might have seen that as a threat. Alliances where a big cause in WWI. One example is when Britain, France and Russia formed the triple entente Germany started spending money on making their navy bigger. When an Austrian heir was assassinated war broke out. It was the triple entente against all the other powers in Europe except Italy who later joined the triple entente. If there weren't so many alliances before WW1 it probably would have not been a world war.. But when one country attacked another the country being attacked there allies came to help causing the attacking country's allies to come making the war bigger and bloodier. Militarism also helped lead to WW1. Before WW1 many countries governments were influenced by military leaders some were even ruled by them. This caused the media to treat them as heros and showed how the other countries were aggressive …show more content…

In 1873 Russia, Austria-Hungary, and Germany made an alliance that pledged mutual wartime support Russia then withdrew from it in 1878. Germany and Austria-Hungary made the dual alliance saying that they would help each other if Russia attacked or if Russia assisted another nation in attacking. In 1881 Italy was added to the alliance and was promised if France attacked they would help. Italy later left and made an alliance with France. In 1891 France, Britain, and Russia made an alliance in case they were attacked. These were the two sides when WW1 started but a few other countries joined each
