To parent’s, education is the most important thing for their son or daughter to succeed in life become successful. Parents send their kids to school with the intention that their kids are safe and are learning valuable things. From the moment that their son/daughter go into kindergarten from the moment they graduate high school, parents believe that the school has prepared them well to be off on their own in the real world. Although, that doesn’t seem to be the case in every students’ life. Students are taught from the moment they start school to not speak out of turn, raise their hands if something is needed, aim to be the top student of their class, do as the teacher has said, no questions asked, walk in a straight line, and never fail. Motivation starts at such an early age, that schools slowly start taking that away from them because they aren’t truly allowed to think outside the box. Each student is expected to learn what is being taught in front of the classroom and memorize it for the next couple of years. Each kid is born with a unique gift, but many aren’t able to show them in a classroom because there are rules to be follow and cannot be broken. There isn’t a single person in this planet that has the same brain as any other human being in this planet. Each student requires different attention compared to others. By treating each student, the same way with the same expectations as a student can easily meet, can lead to low self-stem and lower their expectations on …show more content…
Students start losing interest in school, it becomes a routine of going to school for eight hours, sit in a classroom with another 20 to 30 students, listen to teacher teach up front in the classroom, get a 30-minute break, continue to learn what has been taught in the previous years, take notes, study, and take test to prove how much that student has grown. All these becomes a routine and it’s something that students get tired of and start wanting to do more than just in a class, do as the teacher says and try to the get highest grades in class. Students are trapped in a system that doesn’t give students many choices to prove themselves who they are and what they are capable of truly doing. By telling a 7-year-old what they can do and con not do, stops them from finding a solution on their own and believe that they may not be as smart as the other kids. Each student has its own weakness, its own strengths, and each one requires different attention and help towards helping them
Parents are responsible for a child’s education. They must make the key choices regarding educational direction and set the tone for accountability. The school is the medium for content delivery and an important part of the educational team. Today’s educational system is full of choices for students and parents can maximize these opportunities. Regardless of the options, students must be present to reach their potential.
Nowadays we live in a world where education is vital and every parent wishes to see their children thrive in education. Now people are becoming more concerned about
especially when it starts to affect their motivation to focus in school, and efficiency with homework along with tests. Therefore, making it impossible for kid’s to continue focusing on school work which starts causing them to fail thus, decreasing their motivation to want to stay and complete
Putting Students First Parents want the best for their child, don’t they? In the education world, the child’s best interest should always be the first priority. Making sure the child is happy and well prepared for the future is of the utmost importance to ensure their successfulness in life. Holding back a student is believed to be harmful to their development, but is actually ensuring the student’s preparedness for the future. A child’s self-esteem may be damaged when they enter the next grade level without fully grasping the previous curriculum and realize they are not at the same learning level as their peers.
Having an awareness of what it takes for the child to be successful is half the battle. What will really push a child is when parents recognize that they must also take on an incremental mindset. Children are directly influenced by their parents attitudes and how children interpret them will effect how capable and how much children learn (Ames and Archer, 1987). This is where Parent and Student Education (P.A.C.E) program is intended to not only enrich the understanding of how children develop over the life span, but also how to apply it on a daily basis. These studies have sculpted the foundation for which P.A.C.E was developed for, and addresses the valuable implications that can assist parents and educators in promoting a nurturing environment for children to thrive
Education is meant to be the key to a successful life. It is supposed to inspire great ideas, and prepare each and every generation for their future. However, school for today 's generation fails to meet those requirements. Every student knows education is important, but when school is not engaging or in some cases, even relevant, it makes learning difficult. Improving the school system is something educators attempt to accomplish every year. Despite their best efforts, there are numerous flaws students see, but adults overlook. There is a lack of diversity for students to learn, an overabundance of testing, and students’ voices are being ignored on how to create a more productive learning experience.
It is first important to understand how motivation works in the classroom. There are infinite procedures teachers use to achieve desired effects from their students, but there are general patterns these motivational tools follow. In order for teachers to communicate with their students, they must identify with their needs on an individual basis (Gawel, 1997). This proposal is much akin to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, which states five basic needs that must be met in order to achieve full motivation. These needs, in ascending order, are as follows: physiological, security, love and belongingness, esteem and self-respect, and self-actualization (Gawel, 1997). Each of these needs details a very important issue in motivation inside the classroom and out.
Theorists believe that motivation within the classroom has its benefits when able to produce work from students. Some students have the ability to work without much motivation. This is known as intrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is where students are able to motivate themselves and produce work at high standard. The students have to be determined to strive and have the self-ability to do the work that is needed (Brewer, Dun, Olszewski, 1988). Students who need more praise and encouragement to produce work come under the category of extrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation is about rewarding the students for their work. If a student is able to get done what they have been asked, they will be rewarded with for example a sticker or a lucky dip. Extrinsic motivation for some students means the reward is...
Because motivation is a very strong will power to support students to complete their goal or stay focus to overcome laziness. Next, students can reward themselves after they done something good or finish their schoolwork. The reward don’t have to be big or good, a little thing like pizza or go play game to relax their brain will help them, and make them feel accomplish. The last thing to do is stay active at all time, after done schoolwork, students can go workout or just go outside and run around for thirty minutes will help them clear their brain and make them
Student motivation can be affected by several factors. These elements include parent involvement, teacher enthusiasm, rewards, peers, the learner’s environment, personal experiences, personal interests of the student, and self-esteem and self-image.
To a certain extent it can be said that without a sense of motivation, whether it be intrinsic or extrinsic, a child’s ability to learn and reach their potential is greatly lessened. Motivation is best described as an internal state that not only arouses and directs behaviour but also helps to maintain it (Woolfolk & Margetts, 2013). Motivation not only plays a large role in a child’s learning ability, it also shapes a student’s interests and enjoyment of school and study (Martin, 2003). For both pre-service teachers and expert teachers it is easy to see that if a student possesses high motivation to learn, their behaviour towards their school work is more positive and in turn leads to higher academic success, whereas a student with little to no motivation will exhibit negative behavi...
Having explained the reason most children have become disheartened at the thought of school, I now turn my attention to the students who do realize school’s educational value. These are the students that will continue to prosper throughout their lives because they realize the extreme importance of education. There is a secret, yet not so secret, motivation behind their determination to exceed standards and expectations in school. The secret they withhold is their overwhelming desire to be successful in the future.
