Why Are Democratic Style of Government Beneficial For People?
Winston Churchill said “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.” Democratic government has issues but less than other forms of government. There are aspects of democracy that are beneficial for the people and here are a few. Democratic government allows for more freedom than say an autocratic government, although they’re restrictions to ones freedom (e.g. You cannot vote or buy lottery until you reach eighteen years of age, one cannot drive until sixteen and one cannot buy tobacco products until nineteen years of age.) However, in an autocracy, your restrictions are decided upon by a monarch or dictator, in a democracy you have the power to vote for …show more content…

Secondly, the democratic system benefits the people because it represents the people. Democracy is by the people and for the people, a political party has morals and ideas on healthcare, education, and other issues and each adult citizen can vote for the representative they agree with. Although in Ontario just over half the population usually votes the people do have the freedom to choose who represents them. Democracy is also beneficial to the people because if you do not agree with a political party every four years you can vote to change them. Democracy is also beneficial because it creates change for the people, new representatives will have new ideas to improve our country.
