Macbeth,despite his wife and the witches’ influence, is responsible for his own downfall.
In Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, Macbeth is a tragic hero who destroys himself due to his own wicked and selfish ambitions . In the beginning, Macbeth is portrayed as courageous, noble of
Scotland who bravely fought and won a war for his country . As the story continues, Macbeth soon becomes a tyrant who is willing to kill even his own best friend in order to obtain the greatest amount of power. Due to people including Lady macbeth and the witches he changes for which ultimately leads to his downfall. In the beginning of the play,Macbeth proves himself as a hero as he demonstrates bravery and courage. He is rewarded of his effort by being praised by the Captain who describes his
2.24). For his heroic fighting defeat, he was rewarded with the title of Thane of Cawdor by King Duncan righteously. Macbeth’s brutal and violent characters lead him to murder the king. Later in the story he shows that he is becomes heartless and motivated by ambition. “My genius is rebuked, as it is said Mark Antony’s was by Caesar. He chid the sisters When first they put the name of king upon me And bade them speak to him. Then, prophetlike,They hailed him father to a line of kings” (3.1.59-63). This quote clearly shows that Macbeth is taken over by ambition and greed.
