Love is not just a feeling, or a passion, but it is a life changing event in which everyone experiences, some for the better, and some for the worse. In Charles Dickens’s novel, Great Expectations, Miss Havisham is the character most affected by love. The aftermath of Miss Havisham being left at the altar is a direct connection to the theme of this novel that love changes people.
