My when the grandson tells me that things in the world have changed, I knew ever since the telephone came out that the world would no longer be as I remember it. He understands very little about my life in the past so he tries to convince me that my life now is a whole lot better than then. He says that the world is now a world in which cell phones are very reliable to people, the phone are lit with luminous screens that are bright, loaded with memory not just numbers. Not only that but with also for games, cameras, and Internet. Absolutely nothing is truly the same as I recall it. There is not much to the use of the telephone from the past and does not possess the value that it once had in my days. The first telephone I owned was heavy and black with a long, curly cord. It also included a dialing, click that turned like a wheel to call someone. There was even a very amiable operator that connected to the wires. I tell my grandson this information in hopes that he will understand my thoughts on the new and reinvented version of these telephones. I know my grandson is young and has much to learn about the advantages of the past that I once lived and thrived in. He tells me many fascinating things about this modern and contemporary object. He seems to always take the side of the modern world rather that agree and trust on what I tell to him. Although many of the facts that he tells me are interesting, I can not help wondering if our humanity is slowly dying off. Many people have slowly but surely concealed themselves from the real world and now live in a fantasy world in which the latest technology is the greatest way to do what you desire to do. I see many people together yet not speaking or socializing with each other as much as I would like to them do that it just does not occur. Sure many of them can communicate with another if they are long distanced, but what if that person is right next to them and being ignorant and just typing away. I tell my grandson constantly what does the Internet connection help you achieve in life. He responds with "I do not know but it entertains me." In my opinion it does not get you much at all but it does create constant buzzing, never ending mindless chatter on the bus, at the mall, and even during a simple meal. What happened to the nice family meals where we all enjoyed the presence of each other instead of the business in our palms of our hands.
