We have lived exclusive of technology for a long time. But in today's world we have become so dependent on it that we can't live without it for a day. We’re too dependent on technology to make plans and keep in contact, And this is drawing us away from each other making us to have less face-to-face communication and more over text. We are misusing technology for our own benefits. Eventually this is going to catch up with our society for the worse. Where In both movies “Wall-e”, and “Idiocracy” it is clearly shown that how future people are dependent on technology and how this has affected them negatively. One instance is when joe goes to the hospital because he has been sick due to long hibernation and ask for help in the hospital, he is taken to the doctor’s room for diagnose however, it was not the doctor looking at him it was a normal machine asking random questions and giving fault diagnosis and the doctor simply accepts what the machine has to say, And this clearly shows how people have become dumb and so reliable on robots. Another scene from the movie where we can see that technology has taken a big part our lives was when Joe went to the machine to get his tattoo and when the robot asked for his name he said his name but the robot ignored what he has said and basically gave him the name “Not Sure” even though Joe argued that that was not his name and the guards next to him simply did nothing to stop the robot to give him that name. The topic of technology and our society has become a very controversial subject today. Many people believe that technology is an essential component of our modern world, helping us to improve communication from farther distances as well as giving us easy access to important information. On the other hand, there is the opinion that too much technology is affecting social interactions and our basic development. “Technology…is a queer thing, it brings you great gifts with one hand, and stabs you in the back with the other.” (Carrie Snow.) The CBC Documentary “Are We Digital Dummies” displayed the pros and cons when it comes to modern technology that we use in the western world everyday.
From the beginning, as technology casually began to integrate into our daily routine. A significant portion of society lived in constant fear of a possible uprising from an advanced robotic regime, which we built to serve us, which would rally together and enslave the entire human race. Well, probably not that many people believed this, nevertheless, the scenario has been depicted in popular media for several decades. Both movies, Feed and Wall-E are similar to our world today and also the future. First, these stories have a way of showing us what our future may be like. Also, the problems our world has now and problems we may face in the future. And last, this book and movie show how our world is controlled and how things work. They are both critical in our current world problems because they worry about the same problems we do in real life and may have to worry about for our future world.
