Civil Equality Issues In Modern Society What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about civil rights? Most people would respond with “I think about black and white people’s rights and slavery.” however, civil rights are still an issue on today's world. Millions of people still don't have as much civil rights as they should. Some people because they are different and/or have different beliefs are discriminated and, in some countries, they don't have the civil rights as everyone should have. Christian persecution and abortion are two very controversial topics in the United States and around the world. Both of these topics were affected by the speeches given by two great men. Christian persecutions are not uncommon. Christians and other religious groups are persecuted in some countries today. Most countries on which Christian persecution takes place in there are no-to-little equality laws for religious freedom. Without religious freedom Christian persecution is taken to a whole new level. In some countries being executed for being a Christian is a normal thing. When a person, who is a citizen of this country, thinks about civil rights, they often they about the Civil Rights Movement which took place in this nation during mid 11950s and primarily through the 1960s. They think about the marches, sit-ins, boycotts, and other demonstrations that took place during that period. They also think about influential people during that period such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Medgar Evers, John Lewis, Rosa parks, and other people who made contributions during that movement which change the course of society's was of life in America. In some people view, the Civil Rights Movement began when the Supreme Court rendered their decision in Brown vs. Education, or when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a Bus and the Montgomery Bus-Boycott began. However, the Civil Rights Movement had already begun in several cities in the South. This was the case for the citizens of African descent of the city of Tuskegee.

These events were pivotal and ultimately led to the establishment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. The Civil Rights Act paved the way for future legislation that was not limited to African American civil rights and is considered a landmark piece of legislation that ending racism, segregation and discrimination throughout the United States.

The civil rights movement was a movement that held massive numbers of nonviolent protest against racial segregation and discrimination in America especially the southern states during the 1950’s and 60’s. The struggle of African Americans to gain equal rights in America during this time was a major problem. The civil rights movement was not only about stopping racial segregation amongst African Americans but also to challenge the terrible economic, political, and cultural consequences of that time. But with the help of great leaders and organizations in the civil rights movement, help brake the pattern of African Americans being discriminated against and being segregated. When you think about the Civil Rights Movement two people that might pop into mind could be Martin Luther King Jr. and Governor George Wallace. These two men wrote speeches about where they stood at a time when our nation was split in two. Governor Wallace, didn't think living in a segregated world was a bad thing, after all that was the way he was brought up that was all he knew. Six months later Dr. King who did not agree with Wallace and his views wrote a speech responding back to the Governor. Both of these men argue great points and to get a better understanding about each man and his message I will compare and contrast the two speeches braking each down using Kairos, Ethos, Logos and Pathos.

Many Christians have been persecuted in history for their allegiance to Christ and forced to denounce Christ and others have been persecuted for failing to follow the laws of the land. The act of persecution is on the basis of religion, gender, race, differing beliefs and sex orientation. Persecution is a cruel and inhumane act that should not be supported since people are tortured to death. In the crucible, people were persecuted because of alleged witchcraft.

What I am here to talk about is how Martin Luther King Jr. impacted society, and nation, more than Rosa Parks. Even though Rosa Parks started the Bus-Boycott, Martin lead the protest, and he did an incredible job because it stopped segregation in public transportation. He never lost a spark of hope until he was assassinated. He also inspired other leaders to continue his work. He also was a very hard worker.
