In life there are obstacles that truly test your determination. There are obstacles that for most seem impossible, but I see them only as another challenge to show my grit and resilience. In this paper I will write of a specific obstacle that I had to overcome and how the encounter of this challenge has changed the way I confront, new life defies.

Adversity enhances ones’ positive characteristics due to the provision of an ideal environment for establishing integrity and developing a mature mindset. This conclusion is valid because people tend to learn from their mistakes, thus gain a broader perspective on life.
As a child, I had to navigate from an English-speaking classroom to a Spanish-speaking home. At eight in the morning I was given instruction in English by my professors at school. After three in the afternoon at home, I engaged in Spanish conversation with my mother, father, and siblings. When the summer vacation came around, it was back to speaking Spanish only, and then I regained the Mexican accent that had faded away during the school year. My experience learning English was different from what earlier Spanish-speaking generations in the United States dealt with.
When I first came to this country, I wasn’t thinking about the language, how to learn it, use it, write, how I’m going to speak with people who are next to you and you want to talk to them. My first experience was in Veterans School, it was my first year in school here in United States, and I was in eight grades. The first day of school you were suppose to go with your parent, especially if you were new in the school, like me. What happened was that I didn’t bring my dad whit me, a woman was asking me a lot of questions and I was completely loss, I didn’t have any idea of what she was telling me and I was scare. One funny thing, I started cry because I fell like frustrate, I didn’t know no one from there. In all parts of life there are periods of adversity that we must face, the real challenge however, is what and how we gain from conquering those trials. There have been many times that I have been faced with adversity, it has happened in all aspects of my life at one time or another. Whether it is dealing with the ups and downs of hockey or balancing the pressure that comes with an elite hockey schedule and high school, there are always obstacles. Some of these challenges can bring about positive effects that influence the path of one’s life. In one such experience of mine, the amount of adversity was not near as great as the positive out come that came from my experience.
Enrolling in a college is one thing but actually attending classes and finishing college is harder than it seems. Regardless of all of the obstacles that come our way, there are always resources to help you overcome them to succeed. First colleges aren’t cheap and working may not be enough to pay or tuition but you can qualify for financial aid, grants, and loans. Another is organizing your time by having a job that cooperates with your school schedule and also allows you to have study time. Lastly you need to believe in yourself if you don’t you will not succeed.
The obstacles which we must face are not there to hinder our daily life. They are there to provide countless opportunities to obtain greater success. In order to be successful we must look at every obstacle as a new opportunity.
In life, people will always have something to say about you in everything one does in life, either negative or positive, but it’s the moment when you let what is said upon you affect the way you live your life, that when its becomes a problem. I for myself have been victim of so many people saying things about me and letting get into my head, but I had the courage to overcome a lot of obstacles like that. I have struggled with a lot of obstacles in my life some got the better of me while I have been able to overcome most of them. I am writing this essay to give an example of an obstacle which I struggled with for a very long time and I nearly took the best of me, but with time I was able to overcome it.
Facing adversity, we often look for an act of serendipity to cure strife. While certainly welcome, the feelings that come with facing and overcoming adversity, are wonderfully unique and its effects are residual. Whether familial, financial or educational, my ability to face and overcome any obstacle has only strengthened my resolve and made more confident that no matter what, I will be successful.
Overcoming Obstacles Throughout a persons life, they are faced with different obstacles, and different challenges of all different types. My life in particular has been full of ups and downs, especially towards my soccer career. In the novel The Pact, three boys, George, Rameck, and Sam, are faced with many obstacles throughout their lives, where they must learn to overcome and achieve great success on their own will power. Essentially, I did the same thing. My soccer career has been one of my most difficult life challenges, creating the person I am today.
A personal obstacle that I have overcome was when my mother became legally blind in 2004. When my mother lost her eyesight it was a very drastic change for my family and I. We went from being a completely normal family, financially stable, to having to live paycheck to paycheck and learning how to budget. It was especially hard for me because I was a young child who didn’t understand that my mom wasn’t able to do all the same things as normal moms. I had to quickly understand that my parents would not be able to get me everything I want, but the things that I needed. The older I became the more I understood that just because my mom had a disability that she was still like all the other moms. I began to learn more about my mom’s eye disease,

My family emigrated from the Dominican Republic when I was two years old. At the time, none of us spoke any fluent English. Due to their limited education,
