During my lifetime i’ve had many setbacks and failures and I used to think that these failures defined who I am as a person. I’ve failed at many things and thought that I could not improve on my failures, and I would not be able to better myself. I had a fixed mindset during my early years of high school. I did not think of myself as someone who could have a growth mindset but someone who would stay in a fixed mindset. I have learned to grow out of a fixed mindset and into a growth mindset, I am still in the process of changing my mindset to a growth mindset. My freshmen year of football was rough, I was smaller than most of the other players on the team and it was my first time playing the game of football for a team. My only experience with football was watching the superbowl every year and that was it. I had no idea about the positions, plays, and strategy of the game. To keep each other’s morale up I had to help motivate my team to do better and the best way I did that was to go around to each player and individually motivate them, this kept the team 's hopes high and getting us through each game in the season. Growth mindset help us prosper as a team and as a brothers on the field.growth mindset helped us be successful as a team and as Dr. Dweck writes “I don 't mind losing as long as I see improvement or I feel i’ve done as well as possibly could”.(pg.98). I was happy with our season because my team played 100% on every play and we did not take a snap off. I was happiest of all with myself because I had changed my fixed mind set to a growth mindset and that helped me change as a athlete and a person. Transitioning to a growth mindset helped me be a better leader also and I wouldn 't have won the leadership award for my varsity football team if I had not changed the way I
