Fleeing away from my fears and my problems, I went for a run. The wind blows violently, but I fight with every will in my tiny 100-pound body. I ran for what seemed like an eternity, but 50 minutes later, I collapsed. Gasping for air, ferociously wheezing, and muscles cramping, I swore I was on my death bed yet I felt at peace not just with myself but with Mother Nature who I had just conquered and with Father Time who justified my means of preserving each moment. Everyone nowadays is trying to lose weight or become healthier so it can reflect on their lifestyle and the number one activity they do is run. Running is the epitome of exercise as well as the greatest metaphor for life, you get what you give. I gave my soul and myself as well into this sport and it is a life-changing experience. Not only have I become fitter and live a healthier lifestyle because of it, I have come across some wonderful people as well as figure out who I am and what I can achieve. Every meet, I met someone new. Sometimes it happened to be a coach yet most of the time, it was other runners. Now I’m not known to be a gregarious individual, but when you do your best, people notice. With this in mind, let us fast forward to 2015, junior year of cross country. I stood among great runners every meet and competed well. In fact, I started doing excellently, people began to notice again. Along with all my teammates that had stood by me, I met several runners who I competed against over the course of three years and it allowed me to blossom as an individual since I broke out of my bubble and allowed the real world to say hello and actually have conversations with people I had barely
