Culture to me is language, heritage, style, and character, which a country recognizes itself as. But lately the meaning of culture is starting to diminish among the generations as time goes on and on , culture continue to losing themselves due to corruption of "Americanized" youth .What happened to the history our aunt sisters fought so hard for us to carry on for decades. The customs and values that our grandparents and parents once had. People now and days pray that their family don't lose the respect of our cultural background because no one will be able to tell the future generations of the struggles and strength that a particular country experienced. "The only reason parents have children" is so that they grow up and learn of their heritage, customs and traditions, so later on teach their generation, the way our parents taught us. When my parents came to America I laid peacefully in her stomach. Being I was the first girl and born in America the pressure was on me to fit in with the Nigerian family while maintaining the American cultural side my parents wanted me to have. The most important thing to any cultural parent is there child not losing themselves in a world that no respects the importance of culture. So look at me this Nigerian- American (Americans who are of Nigerian ancestry) girl here in America and her parents are forcing her to learn to languages and be fluent in them. So at home they wanted me to speak Igbo properly so that I could connect more to my Nigerian identity , meanwhile at school my teachers wanted me to speak English so well that I forget I could speak another
