It feels like everything you once hoped for and dreamed for is now completely out of your reach. It takes an emotional toll on you. It breaks you physically, mentally, and spiritually”. However, some say failures help you realize what you are doing wrong, and after you fail it makes you want to change things and try again. Hoops is a must-read tale that teaches a valuable life lesson through conflict that holds true even for today’s teenager: never give up even if you fail.

In Hoops, the author uses conflict to teach the reader to never give up even if you fail. For instance, giving up after a failure has caused me to quit the basketball team half way through the season. I chose to quit the team and regretted it instantly. I quit the team because we was losing every game. I ended up getting mad and just quitting instead of bettering myself and trying to better the team. Therefore, I’ve learned to not give up and better myself that way we won’t lose as many games. Furthermore, my giving up after a failure interferes with my personal life as well. In school if I am failing one of my classes, I just give up and not try anymore instead of trying to work harder. Failing your classes is definitely not a good look on you.
