Core beliefs are things that you know and believe that are true about yourself regardless of what other people think or feel. They are how we see ourselves, other people, the world, and the future. Our beliefs influence us in how we live our lives. A core belief that I have is that positive thoughts are powerful in all aspects of life. Positive thinking is about more than just simply being cheerful or displaying an upbeat attitude. I think having a positive mindset will improve things in your life in the long haul.
Positive thoughts are incredibly valuable in life. Professor Barbara Fredrickson is a social psychologist from the University of North Carolina. She suggests that positivity is what helps you experience emotions like joy, appreciation, motivation, and inspiration. When you are experiencing positive emotions like these, you will see more possibilities and worth in your life. There is real power in optimism. I would like to mention a few bible verses that I live by and believe are important for not only followers of Christ, but for all to live by as well. Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.” In other words we should turn away from dwelling on that of which is negative. We choose the way we respond to events in our lives. We can see everything as a tragedy or view things as a challenge. We can see obstacles or opportunities. Proverbs 17:22 says “A cheerful heart brings good healing, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” A joyful heart is a healthier heart and a person that people love to be around.
