Throughout history there have been many different beliefs of sexuality in the bible and other different religion text. There are different ways that people approach these sexual desires and different interpretations from the bible. Sex itself has never been emphasized, but celibacy and virginity have been. When the Bible uses the word virgin, it refers to an unmarried person who has not had sexual relations (Esther 2:2 and Revelation 14:4). In today’s culture, many people use the word virginity to express sexual purity, but many others use a different definition to find loopholes in moral standards, limiting the word to mean only “the condition of never having gone all the way” as to a couple can do anything and everything short of sexual intercourse …show more content…

People feel as if it’s in their right mind to stay celibate for god himself, and it’s a wrongdoing if they commit the act of sexual encounters before they are married. In the bible there are three main reasons for someone to stay celibate. In the bible the First Corinthians 6:18–20 states, “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” In this passage it explains that God is telling you to “flee” from this idea around sex, and explains that it is all other doings outside of the body that create the okay idea of sexual encounters. Thessalonians 4:3–7 says, “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.” As shown in this verse straight from the bible, God explains that it is looked at as taking advantage of a “brother or sister”, and said to follow in the idea of a holy
