Tim Burton Who has created many films, has a style that can be seen as chilling but also riveting. He uses this style in most of his films including Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, and Edward Scissorhands. His films keeps audiences intrigued by uses a variety of cinematic techniques that help add more meaning to the films. In the film Alice in wonderland an establishing shot used. An establishing shot is used to show the setting of a story. The establishing shot is used to show the battleground for frabjous day. This allows us to see the dark and ominous trees and broken down building. We are able to see that even in a beautiful “wonderland” there is a dark and scary side. Another example of an establishing shot would be in edward scissorhands. One of the opening scenes shows the bright and ordinary town where every house seems to be the same. The camera then slightly moves up and we this big dark castle in the back round which leaves the audiences wondering what it could be. Throughout the movie the children keep getting picked out from horrible things keep happening to them. An example of this is when Augustus Gloop falls into the chocolate river and then gets sucked up by the tube. An eye level shot is used to show the veiwers his perspective on what is happening. Viewers are able to see Augustus looking down upon his mom and the other children.
