Recommended: Critical analysis of the role of UN

The United Nations is an organisation that promotes international co-operation. It was founded in 1945 by 51 countries (one being Australia) after the Second World War. The United Nations are committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights. Over the past 60 years, Australia has supported the UN’s role in world affairs and been an active participant in the UN’s Charter Conferences. Australia has provided significant financial support and voluntary funding to the United Nations. Australia is the 13th largest contributor to the United Nations and continues to support and value the organisation because it defends Australian security and sovereignty, as well as promoting Australia’s principles. (United Nations, 2014)
The World Trade Organization (WTO) is the only global international organisation dealing with the rules of trade between nations (World Trade Organisation, 2014). The goal of the organisation is to help importers, exporters and producers of goods and services conduct their business efficiently. The international organisation flows freely and also helps countries negotiate issues and affairs. The Group of Twenty is an international meeting for governments. It consists of 19 countries; Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States and the European Union.
