UMKC Trustee Scholarship: (Cool Title) Everyday is a chance to do something you would have never dreamed of doing and a chance to make society a better place. That is the beautiful thing about being an American, every person has the right and the opportunity to be incredible. When I get out of bed in the morning, I make it my personal mission to take advantage of my opportunities and make the world a better place. I believe that incredible things can be done through the smallest or largest actions. Last year, I saw the impact one baseball game can have on an entire community. That event taught me that because I have the right, I have the obligation to do the things I can to improve the lives of others everyday.

The Texas Student Housing scholarship will allow me an opportunity to work towards a clear foundation of my future business – one which I am determined will ameliorate the world. Without this scholarship, much of my efforts will be used towards paying for housing and tuition. However, with this scholarship, I will be able to efficiently allocate my time and resources towards my business, which I hope will help elicit happiness from people in Austin and eventually, countries across the world. As a result, I value this scholarship as a necessity.

I work my hardest in school, sports, and lifting weights, and especially in making good relationships with people because that’s very important to have a good life. I want to go to the West Point Military Academy one day, so that I can protect the people here and do good for my country as a whole so that way my life has a purpose to it.
I have been a four year letter-winner in volleyball and basketball. Athletics have been a crucial part of developing my character and work ethic. In sports, you must work together with your team to reach your goals. Trust and communication skills are vital and are tested every day. The failure and setbacks I have faced through sports have helped me to believe in myself and have the self-confidence that it takes to be successful in athletics and in life. As a senior captain of the volleyball and basketball teams, my leadership has improved tremendously as high school has progressed. Being a leader holds me accountable and I aim to be a role model for younger teammates on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.
Ever since I first understood the world, I loved to spend time with my family. If I were ever invited to a sleepover, I would refuse nine out of ten times, so my dad and I could go see a movie. However, I’ve started to realize that not everybody is as fortunate as I am. If I were given one day and $1,000 dollars to make a difference in my community, I would savor every second. I’d gather my closest friends and family, make a trip to every nursing home in town, making every senior feel like I have for the past fourteen years.
It is amazing how many things we take for granted. We make plans for the day, and don 't think twice about how those plans can be taken away in the blink of an eye. I never thought much about it myself until I was faced with the shock of my aunt’s death. I don 't think anyone really thinks about tragedy until they are actually faced with shocking news. The lesson I can learn from this is to live everyday intentionally and purposely.
Everybody has something important to them, whether it’s school, an organization, a sport, or in my case, a treasured family background. Growing up on the farm, I’ve learned countless life lessons that turned out to be more valuable than imaginable, and I’ve somehow been fortunate enough to meet incredible people and experience unbelievable opportunities, such as becoming FFA President and planning out my future. During my early childhood, my mom worked on the weekends, and my dad worked throughout the week. On Saturdays and Sundays, my dad would take me to church with my grandparents, and we spent a majority of our time together at their farm.
What some may call a “real life” of going to college, getting a job, getting married and having kids can’t be taken away or lost. This is very inspirational for me to follow what I think is the best path for me in the present and lead to a better
Every time I do some kind of service – I have the opportunity to learn new ideas, discover new perspectives and I've have grown as an individual. By giving back I like making people feel as though they matter, and it gives me a good feeling at the end of the day because I feel I have made a difference. I grow as a person each time I do volunteering. Some people do volunteering because they have to, but I do it because I want to. I love volunteering.
Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, invites applications for the 2016 Global Leadership Entry Program (GLEP) Scholarship awarded for undergraduate studies to successful applicants. Worth of Award Two GLEP scholarships will be awarded with a value of $5000 each for the first year of study at Macquarie. The GLEP scholarships will be awarded in early January.

I am planning on doing multiple small projects to promote the Gilman Scholarship and encourage more students to participate in study abroad. My project would center on social media and my campus community. My target audience would consist of low-income college students who, like me, hope to study abroad but are in need of financial aid. The purpose of these projects will be to inform students that study abroad is possible, even with their financial situation, due to all the financial aid that is available.
If we open our lives and give service to those less fortunate than ourselves, we allow our hearts to receive immeasurable happiness. When we sacrifice our time to help someone in need, whether it is a great or small need, we become a part of their life and can help alleviate heavy burdens. Making time to help people in need creates opportunities for us to develop new and lasting relationships. Serving our fellowmen allows the best in each of us to shine through and we can become examples to our children.
