One reason why the US have two major political parties, is because the US have separation of our legislative and executive branches. The United States is not a democracy, its a republic. In most democracies of the world the legislator elects a prime minister who is the defacto executive of the country. President Bush was there to comfort us Americans. Another example could be the First World War with Democratic President Woodrow Wilson. Most of the time Democratic parties are favored by the lower class of citizens, while Republicans are usually appreciated by the middle to upper-class. It seems that there are more political parties then just Democrats and Republicans, but it’s something that we are used to so we ultimately choose what we are most comfortable with, and then that seems to be Republicans and Democrats. One interest group regulated by the Government is Federalism. Federalism is a system whereby the States keep almost all domestic power, and the central government, created by the States, is mostly for foreign affairs, and disputes between States. It was never meant to regulate the behavior of the Citizens of the States. Interest groups vary greatly in size, aims, and tactics. Political scientists generally divide interest groups into two categories: economic and noneconomic. Some believe that interests groups are liabilities, and also believe that they have too much power over others.
