Do they play an important role in our democracy since they claim that they represent many people? There has been a continuing debate over the proper role of interest groups in the United States democracy. Interest groups are organized group of individuals who share the same ideas and their main goal is to influence media, lawmakers, and people with their ideas. Many people argue that the legislative branch is run by few big interest groups because of their massive contributions against very small contributions from individuals. In a democratic society, power must be shared equally among its citizens, but is that the case in the United States? The answer is simply no, and by limiting their overall spending on elections, policymakers will listen and pay more attention to the public interest over the special interest. Also, by revealing the freeloaders’ names, people will have more knowledge of who is representing them and who has tended to benefit those who made contributions to their campaigns. Finally, prohibiting the spending on food, entertainment and gifts to legislative branch employee will also reduce the corruption in the legislative …show more content…

Although the NRA has made many victories over the White House’s plans to enact federal laws, their strategies and winnings on passing state laws can’t go unnoticeable. “A review of the NRA legislation news page has shown that the organization has had at least 230 full legislative victories on the state level in the past ten years alone,” says Hickey in his article “The NRA Has Been Outstandingly Successful Where It Really Counts.” Some of their most important victories are when they backed laws that forbids the restrictions on firearms in a time of emergency and backing laws known as Castle Laws that allows anyone to use any manner of force against any person who illegally enters one’s home or business. Another victory for them was on April 26, 2017, when Governor Jim Justice of West Virginia signed two pro-gun bills. The first law is allowing any person to legally carry his/her firearm in any state county or Municipal park and the second law allows citizens to conceal carry in school
