ood morning, I am pleased to be able to write to you today concerning a town near and dear to me. A great Philosopher once said “Home is where your heart is”, and if that’s true, then my home is always going to be Tucson. My Thesis is pretty simple—Tucson is America’s best city. To prove this today we will be covering different areas. We will discuss the History and evolution of the City, famous people from my home state, economic contributions made to the United States, and finally my own personal ties to the City. Then I will once again state my belief in the City of Tucson. To understand why I love the Tucson of today, let’s take a moment to see where it came from. Tucson was founded in 1775 by Spanish soldiers claiming the territory as Presidio Augustin del Tucson. It was actually used as a strategic military location for a time. Tucson even saw the Confederate army take up residency. Around 1863, long after the civil war was over, Tucson, through the use of settlers and different mining and expansion projects, began to take …show more content…

Industry came to town in the form of power plants and defense contractors. These, along with the establishment of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, helped pumped even more lifeblood into the old pueblo. The University of Arizona became increasingly popular for its year-round offering of temperate climate. Tucson’s climate would serve to benefit the growth of the City even more than expected. Companies that needed corrosion-free storage found a welcome location in the dry desert. This led to aircraft companies as well as car companies moving their long term storage operations to Tucson. Some of the most famous planes of their time are sitting in Tucson in aircraft “boneyards”. With all the growth and expansion, Tucson started becoming famous, but it wasn’t just the city that turned out to be
