Truth of Milk
Effects of milk to human body are a highly controversial topic. One group which expresses agree with milk consumption says that milk is good for human health. Another group which expresses disagree with milk consumption says that milk is harmful to human body. The other group which expresses neutral with milk consumption says that milk’s effects depend on body type. The citations at below are going to be used as evidences of each perspective; agree, disagree, and neutral. Butler and Wilson’s writing will support group of agree. Van Knegsel and Maguire’s article will be evidences for group of disagree. Group of neutral will be supported by Morlock and Chang’s articles.
Graham Butler’s journal lends weight to negative group’s idea which disagree drinking milk. Butler said “Residues in milk due to feeding cows with antibiotics and steroids; Pasteurization; Homogenization; Negation of the benefit of milk as a source of calcium; Alternatives to milk; Organic milk” (Butler). cow's milk has 59 active hormones, scores of allergens, fat and cholesterol. Most cows’ milk has measurable quantities of herbicides, pesticides, dioxins, up to 52 powerful antibiotics, blood, pus, feces, bacteria and viruses.
Moreover, Wilson’s journal shows additional milk’s side effect. “Parents and health care providers often incorrectly use the term milk intolerance to describe a wide spectrum of symptoms seen in infants who have problems digesting cow's milk. The most common reasons for milk intolerance are the negative reactions to lactose or cow's milk protein” (Wilson). Identification and correct diagnosis of lactose intolerance or cow's milk protein allergy is imperative to correctly recommend alterations in feeding practices or suggest form...

...% in bovine milk showing higher liberation of FAA in equine milk. For the relation of EAA to total FAA, the higher liberation was observed in equine milk. Based on these results, the equine milk could be more suitable than bovine milk for infant and human nutrition.
In conclusion, several citations are used as evidences of each perspective; agree, disagree, and neutral. Butler and Wilson’s writing will support group of agree. Van Knegsel and Maguire’s article will be evidences for group of disagree. Group of neutral will be supported by Morlock and Chang’s articles. One group which expresses agree with milk consumption says that milk is good for human health. Another group which expresses disagree with milk consumption says that milk is harmful to human body. The other group which expresses neutral with milk consumption says that milk’s effects depend on body type.
For example, according to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) short term diseases can cause high levels of cholesterol, and saturated fat leads to obesity, most people say this isn’t true but studies show it is. Why have your kids get sick when there are other things waiting, this is important for parents to know and avoid this drink. In addition, PETA says “In long term conditions it causes cholesterol and saturated fat leads to heart disease and cancer.” This shows that chocolate milk can cause illnesses or diseases to kids or adults. To conclude, Dr.Frank A. Oski Director at the Department of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University says that chocolate milk can cause cramps, diarrhea, and allergies, all things that can be short or long term effects. This supports my claim because, it shows that children or adults could get this from this harmful drink in disguise. As one can see, we need to stop serving chocolate milk because of the illnesses and diseases it
Lactose intolerance (LI) is the inability of some humans to digest the lactose sugar contained in most dairy products and foods made with dairy products. LI has numerous readily apparent physical symptoms such as gas, cramps and diarrhea (Houts 110). More importantly, LI may lead to malnutrition in those people affected because of the loss of milk's important nutrients. Not everyone is affected by LI. In fact, genetic background rather than any other health or cultural factor seems to best predict LI. The inability of humans to digest lactose has enormous health consequences, particularly among the poor populations of the U.S. and the developing third-world countries.
Commodity Chain of Milk Milk: Does the body good? That?s about as much as I knew. As a somewhat, well, I?ll admit it- ignorant consumer- I simply thought that milk in the supermarket came from, well? a big, long row of cows somewhere.

This article goes into depth on the different components that make up breast milk’s nutrient content. The article also goes over the different types of milks that a mother produces when feeding her infant. It also brings up that every mother’s milk is different because breast milk will change itself based on an infant’s nutritional needs. Both authors work at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research for Human Milk and Lactation which means both authors have a strong knowledge about breast milk. All sources they
Food allergy or hypersensitivity refers to the abnormal allergic reaction of the body’s immune system to a usually harmless food such as milk, eggs, peanuts, and fish. Food allergens that cause allergic reactions are usually proteins and this can cause adverse effects even if cooked or have been digested. Dairy allergens include milk and milk proteins that are found in cows, sheep, goat, and other grazing mammals that produce milk. Milk allergy symptoms may differ from person to person and it sometimes occur a few minutes to a few hours after ingestion. Principal symptoms are mostly respiratory, gastrointestinal and dermatological. After consuming milk, some symptoms may immediately surface like hives, vomiting and wheezing. In some cases, signs and symptoms may take longer period of time to develop such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, itchy skin rash and loose stools, which may contain blood. For babies, colic also surfaces much longer than most symptoms thus parents should be more alert for signs of milk allergy. Rarely, milk allergies can trigger anaphylaxis, which is a severe reaction that can be life-threatening. It is best to consult your doctor even if there is only mild reaction. This is to avoid potentially worse reaction in the future and also to know the steps in avoiding its recurrence.

“Commercially prepared infant formulas are a nourishing alternative to breast milk, and even contains vitamins and nutrients that breastfed infants need to get from supplements (Pearl, E., 2015). Breastfeeding is proven to strengthen the immune system for children of all ages. While a mother nurses the infant, the mother passes down nutrients and antibodies from the milk the babies drink while nursing. Like immunizations building invulnerabilities for people destructive illnesses, breast milk gives additional antibodies to infants to help them. Nursing sessions are less demanding to retain and process the formula since it contains living development elements, hormones, and chemicals which help an infant to effectively process all healthy intake from each feeding (The Office on Women’s Health, 2012). Further, in creating nations, scientists found that for newborn children who were not breastfed have danger of dying from irresistible infections, in the primary month is six times more prominent than babies who were breastfed (Chen and Rogan, 2004). Children that are breastfed have less problems with digestive systems due to the breast milk, a standout amongst the most essential advantages of breast milk is the containing living parts, for example, contamination battling antibodies, white platelets, red platelets, and hostile to viral components (Taylor, 2013). All which are essential to the growth of a newborn's digestive system that formula does not
Since the beginning of time, people have been drinking milk. Even today you will find a gallon of milk in almost every refrigerator in America. Milk is, and has always been, a staple of our diet. Because it contains essential proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals and vitamins, milk is considered one of nature's perfect foods. Unfortunately, throughout the last century milk has been subjected to many forms of modern processing practices, which deprive milk from many of its natural qualities and benefits. Therefore many essential vitamins and enzymes are lost. Processing milk has altered one of nature’s perfect foods and changed it into something nature did not intend. Because of the abundant health benefits in raw milk, this report will explain why it should be made legal for consumers to buy throughout the United States.
The idea of pasteurizing milk bagan in the 1920s, and later became an aspect of everyday life in the 1950s. Milk that has undergone this process is normally prefered since it is sterilized, therefore lowering the chance of human illness. However, it’s not the 1950s anymore, and the idea of pasteurizing milk has lost its luster for the people that now prefer raw milk. Unlike the milk that most Americans consume, raw milk has not been pasteurized, or quickly heated to a high temperature to kill harmful bacteria. In raw milk, these bacterias haven’t been removed, leaving people at risk. E. Coli, salmonella, and listeria are only some of the bacteria that raw milk carries, all of which can cause sickness, or even death. Common affects of consuming raw milk are diarrhea, stomach cramping, and vomiting, but it's the rare ones: kidney failure, paralysis, and death that causes raw milk to be illegal in half of the states and illegal to carry over state lines in its final form. Nevertheless, people still actively seek out and consume raw milk because they believe its nutritional values to be greater. Controversies surround this topic on whether organic food
...repercussions throughout life such as allergies and autoimmunity. This is considered to be one of the paramount advantages breast milk possesses because, it is exclusive to mother’s breast milk and duplication of these factors in formula or animal milk is at this present time unattainable.

Those who are able to do so are proud to tell you how they are glad to not have to use formula. Yet, if you asked her if she would drink it herself, she would probably “no way!” Yet, this article expresses a lesser known and curious prospective.; it opens the door for the question, of: “Is human breast milk as an acceptable food for adults?” It (what?) features a well known New York ...
Breast milk is made for the baby having just the right amount of protein, sugar, water, and fat that is needed for a baby’s growth and development. As breast milk is easier for newborn’s to digest than formal, it prevents intestinal upsets. Furthermore, breast milk includes substances such as immunoglobulin’s...
In a study by Ballard and Morrow, results show that breast milk contains the perfect balance of nutrition. It is high in vitamin rich nutrients and is easily digested and nutrients are absorbed more easily as opposed to formula. Breast milk contains the proportionate amount of protein, carbohydrates, fat and calcium. The nutritional content of store bought formula depends on proper preparation by the care taker and toleration to the non-human milk. Some babies have difficulty tolerating some nutrients found in formula. Formula manufacturers add synthetic ingredients to infant formulas in an attempt to imitate the composition of human milk. There isn’t any man made formula that can replicate the nutrients in human breast milk. Breast milk contains active infection-fighting
