The chapter continues in Tris's perspective, and describes her nervousness about Caleb's trial. She knows he will most likely be executed, but still worries, despite his betrayal. She informs the others about the Allegiant meeting, and they all go to Candor headquarters. The leaders of the Allegiant turn out to Johanna, the Amity leader, and Cara, Will's Erudite sister. Tris, Tobias, and the other former Dauntless are chosen to escape the city the following night. Tobias stops Tris, and they decide to walk back through an alley. Tris reveals that she doesn't want her brother to die. Tobias knows that she will not be focused because of Caleb, and offers to free him before the execution. She is thankful and tries to kiss him. He avoids her mouth, trying to elongate the moment. Tobias brings her legs around his waist, and kisses her against the alley wall. …show more content…

He experiences the same four fears, only with some changes. His last fear is watching Tris die. Tobias walks into the cells and tells the guard to release Caleb Prior. Tobias lies and convinces Caleb that he will be executed today. Caleb attempts to run away, but Tobias punches him. Zeke, Uriah's older brother and Tobias's friend, awaits at the stairwell. The two say goodbye, and Tobias escorts Caleb to the train tracks. They jump into the last train car, where Tris awaits them. She kisses Tobias, but doesn't acknowledge her brother. Tris looks back towards the city, saying that she will miss it. Tobias disagrees, and can't wait to finally leave it
