Was the Trayvon Martin case really justified? Trayvon Martin was the spark of the unjustified killings in our generation. Trayvon’s death wasn’t justified because it was the result of racial profiling, Trayvon was unarmed during his death, and the 911 dispatcher told his killer, George Zimmerman, to stay in his car and to not follow him. Although Trayvon attacked Zimmerman first and it could be considered self-defense. It depends how you look at it with all the evidence. Racial profiling played a humongous role in this murder case. If Trayvon were to be white or light at the skin Zimmerman wouldn’t have suspected a thing from Trayvon. The fact that Trayvon was African-American Zimmerman automatically thought that Trayvon was up to no good based on racial stereotypes. Trayvon was wearing a dark grey hoodie with the hood placed over his head, which brought more suspicion to Zimmerman. Based on Richardson’s web article this is what Zimmerman thought about Trayvon, “this guy looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs or something.”. Trayvon was just making a little trip to the 7/11 to pick up some snacks. That was all he had on him. Zimmerman was apart of the neighborhood watch, and he was patrolling that night. ZImmerman was licensed to carry a firearm, but does that mean you can shoot a black kid just for walking home at night? Trayvon only attacked Zimmerman because he was following him at night, who wouldn’t be scared if someone was following them, Trayvon was defending himself.
