Transgender People Should Be Banned From The Military

There is so much controversy on whether transgender people should be banned from the military. President Trump seems to think that this is the solution to a number of problems. However, it has been proved that it is not the answer and transgender people should not be banned from the military.
First of all, any warm body that wishes to serve in the military should without a doubt be able to train and be a part of the military. In an article from the Los Angeles Times, Navy Secretary Richard V. Spencer said “anyone able to serve in the military should be allowed to do so” (Spencer). For those currently serving in the army, The Pentagon's top uniformed officer said Tuesday “that he believes gender identity is not a credible reason to discharge transgender service members from the military.” So, basically the only reason any of this has come about is due to President Trump’s prejudice about the LGBT community. However, it is so pointless to exclude them due to gender identity if they are taking part in the same training and line of duty as any other human. So, why is the money even an issue? In all honestly, it is nothing but an excuse to exclude transgender people from the military. In an article written by James Hamblin, it is said that “this would be a military health-care spending increase of 0.04 to 0.13 percent” (Hamblin). So, “The relative costs drops into the ten-thousandths of a percent when taken in context of the Department of Defense budget as a whole, expected to be proposed at $640 billion” (Hamblin). The difference between these are not great enough to even consider excluding transgender
