What would you do if you found out that your sister had mailed out your secret love letters to all of your past crushes and suddenly they’re all comforting you for it? That’s exactly what Lara Jean experienced in Jenny Han’s young adult novel To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. The setting of the story takes place in modern time in Montpelier, Virginia and there it mentions their school, home, ski resort, etc. The main characters in this book are Lara Jean, Peter, Kitty, Josh and Margot. LJ is our antisocial goody-two-shoes protagonist who’s “cute in a quirky way.” She’s the exactly the type of person to spend time at home baking with her family than going to the party, that everyone’s been raving about. The rising action was when Lara Jean’s secret love letter gets sent to all 5 of her past crushes. This results with Josh and Peter comforting her about it which she then realizes she has rekindled feelings for Josh. With hopes that Josh and Margot will get back together, Lara decides to fake-date Peter to convince Josh that there isn’t feelings for him and to help Peter appear unattached to his ex-girlfriend. The climax is when Lara really starts developing feelings for Peter, Josh decides to kiss her at a Christmas party, this of course leads to mutual misunderstandings. Margot thinks Lara was just trying to get with her ex to spite her while Peter thinks she actually wants Josh.The falling action is when Kitty finally admits to being the one who sent her love letters because she thought that Lara Jean was going to tell Josh about her crush on him. Margot and Lara Jean finally talk things out and try to understand each other's situation while they do end up hugging it out, there’s still an unspoken awkwardness between them. Finally the resolution ends with Lara advising Margot to talk to Josh to see where they stand, she answers with the fact they’re trying to give each other space.On the topic of Peter, it explains how Lara Jean begins to write a letter to him but the content is left
