Legislative, executive, and judicial; these are the three main branches that govern the United States. Checks and balances keep these branches of government in order so one branch does not gain power over the other two. Not only must these branches follow the articles established in the Constitution, but they also have to rely on each other and themselves. From the creation of laws to the impeachment of the president, the independence of these branches keep the United States government in order. The legislative branch enacts legislation upon the United States government with the main power of Congress. The Presidential Cabinet is nominated by the President, and has to be approved by less than or equal to 51 Senate members. There are currently 15 cabinet positions some positions are: Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, Department of Defence, Department of Education, ect,. The President is the head of the executive branch who is elected every four years, and can serve no more than two four-year terms. The President has many duties like commanding the United States Armed Forces, giving a State of the Union Address each year, and carrying out an enforcing laws of the country. The vice president serves as a “stand-in president” in the event that the President can not perform his everyday duties. The vice president can also preside over the United States Senate and serve many four-year terms. The executive branch has the supreme power of accepting or vetoing any law or legislature created by Congress. If this one branch of government were to be lower in power than the other branches, than there would be no need for a president.
