In this paper the therapeutic relationships between clients and nurses in a recording are examined. This was done through exploring the client’s messages, defining what the messages mean, and then finally expressing the messages therapeutically help the client.
Client’s messages
The therapeutic relationship between client and nurse is examined through the video of clients voicing their experiences with nurses. Key verbal and nonverbal messages about therapeutic behavior are found within the video and include intelligence, positivity, friendliness, encouragement, and compassion. These ways in which clients feel about the nurse all result from situational, social, and institutional factors.
Intelligence was found in the “Patient Perspectives Part Three” video when Kelsey Burk’s mom verbally described the nurse as “very knowledgeable about Kelsey’s condition” and went on to say that the nurse could answer any question no matter how complex.
