In William Shakespeare’s play, The Tragedy of Macbeth, the audience is given a character who seems to be a humble hero of high class. As the play progresses is when the truth is revealed about Macbeth; he has very credulous actions that cause him to be a naïve king. Macbeth is a very dexterous fighter on the battlefield and this has awarded him with high notability from his king and his community. This recognition from his king has earned him Thane of Glamis. Macbeth’s ingenuous mind has finally shown to follow him as he encounters three witches that deem him as both Thane of Glamis and Cawdor, and king henceforth. Many claim that Macbeth’s tragic flaw is ambition; however, they do not take into consideration that Macbeth is an exceedingly impressionable man who has sparked his own downfall.
The encounter that Macbeth had with the three witches in the beginning of the play is the first illustration of his flaw exhibited to the audience.
