Macbeth, a Noble Man Gone Astray

William Shakespeare born in 1564 is famously known as one of the most influential writers of all time; he conjured up many breathtaking plays during his lifetime. One of Shakespeare most successful plays was the tragedy Macbeth. Public and critical acclaim quickly followed and Shakespeare eventually became the most popular play writer of all time. In this famous play Shakespeare has portrayed Macbeth as respectable noble man however he is motivated to go down the path of dishonesty and crime.

In the beginning of the play we are first introduced to Macbeth as a Scottish general and thane of glamis, is led to wicked thoughts by the prophecies of the three witches he begins to change especially after their prophecy that he will be made thane of Cawdor comes true.

In act 1 scene 1 it begins with the arrival of the three witches deciding to confront the great general Macbeth after his victorious return from battle. Banqou also stood before the witches as they began their significant prophecies about the events that will occur

‘All hail Macbeth, hail to thee thane of glamis

All hail Macbeth to thee thane of Cawdor

All hail Macbeth that shalt be king of hereafter'

Macbeth believes the witches because of the historical background of oldern times where the witches have successfully planted the seed of ambition, greed and power. In those day witches were seen as evil and demonic people who told prophecies. Macbeth believes them and his ambition and lust for power takes hold of him as he asks the witches;

‘Stay you imperfect speakers, tell me more’

This again shows how eager Macbeth is despite how sinastrous these three witches are. This quote can also show the readers that if the witches had not told them the prophecy...

...gative comments. Because Lady Macbeth was the main cause of his new hidden discovery, she is fully responsible for opening up the door and letting the darkness in. This results in Macbeth committing murder by killing Duncan.

Lady Macbeth and the witches have both planted the seed of ambition inside of Macbeth Because of Lady Macbeth’s wicked behavior, which resulted in Macbeth’s evil transition; he was led to become a murderer. Macbeth should not be held accountable for his actions completely since she is the one who lead him towards committing both crimes. The major theme ambition and greed for power have played a key part in Macbeth’s fall from a great Scottish general to a murderer. People should be content on what they have and not strive for things which destroy a person even if we are influenced. In this case Shakespeare’s thought proving play of Macbeth.
