The Tragedy paper is a great book that keeps the reader on edge with every decision the characters make. Many factors play into the steady developing plot, a strong love triangle contributes into the story, along with the great issue of believing in oneself, and doing what is best for one, not anyone else. The love story in this novel is between three teens, with Vanessa, an alluring young teenager, in the middle of both Patrick and Tim who continuously find themselves vying for her attention. Tim is the boy who is constantly in second place in his battle against Patrick, Vanessa's boyfriend. Vanessa began to fall out of love with Patrick, his competitive, rude, flippant attitude, starts to get to her. That is when she meets Tim. He is the complete opposite of Patrick, actually caring for her. He thinks very high of her and he finds himself personally angry when someone else, especially Patrick, does not put her on that pedestal, ¨I couldn't get past the fact that Patrick didn´t see Vanessa as the most incredible, beautiful girl on campus.¨ (165). …show more content…

However, he did not, and that leads to his tragic flaw. Tim had an exceedingly horrible self esteem, he always feels as if he needs to hide. ¨I usually wear my glasses when I run- I think they help me hide.¨ (121). Throughout the book, Tim sees himself as only a freak and nothing different. His albinism to him is not the something special about him, but rather a burden that he has to bear. He always feels like if he does not disappear the rest of the world only shun him, so he takes it upon himself to shrink away, ¨I was still eating at the back table alone.¨
