The Timeless Tradition of Judaism
The best way to understand the Jewish tradition is to dive fully into the primary sources that make up their religion. Over the course of storied Jewish history, texts have transformed along with understanding and law. As a religion primarily rooted in law and understanding of historical documents, knowing a Jew is as simple as picking up a document and reading their history, or so it would seem. The previously quoted text comes directly from the begging of the Maggid section of the Passover Seder, part of the Passover Haggadah. Within this text is a strong indication of what it means to be a Jew. Judaism is a timeless religion deeply rooted in tradition with strong foundations of community and scholastic interpretation.
Passover is an important time in the Jewish calendar year, and the reading of the Maggid from the Passover Haggadah is a required aspect of the Passover celebration. The first passage from the above quotation, “This is the bread… may be free!” (Alexander 75-76) clearly expresses community and a connection to history. These words, said aloud at the outset of the Passover celebration serve two purposes. First, they serve as the repetition of history. This statement is similar to that which would have been said by the Israelites upon their delivery out of the land of Egypt. “This is the bread of poverty which our fathers ate in the land of Egypt…” (Alexander 75). Now one would recognize that this isn’t read as the same physical bread, but spiritually speaking it is the representation of the gift of God to the first free Israelites. The connection of Jews to their long and documented history is immediately striking. Not only do they remember that their ancestors had eaten brea...

...er Haggadah illuminate a religious tradition unlike any other. Supported by strength in community and an overwhelming comprehension of history and law from millennia of intense study, Judaism is a timeless religion that connects Jews of all ages and social standing across time. The exodus from Israel marks the origin of the Jew, and so it is only appropriate that each year Jews gather to return to the land of Egypt. Under the unjust rule of the pharaoh, they find their ancestors, their fathers, their children, and themselves, waiting for God’s promise to deliver them to freedom.

For nearly a century before World War II, Korea had been ruled by the Japanese or the Chinese. When Japan’s empire has fallen after the war, the Soviet Union and the United States occupied Korea, The Soviet Union occupied the northern half of Korea and installed a communist government. Meanwhile the United States occupied the southern part of 38th parallel (an invisible line that divides Korea into almost equal halves). While the Soviet Union wanted all Korean to be united under single communist government, the Americans wanted free election for the south. By 1950, Kim IL Sung, leader of North Korean, had laid claim to the entire country and desired to invade South Korea. However The Soviet Union did not want to clash directly with the United States. Instead they supported and supplied North Korea with weapons and armories to have them fight for the Union in a “proxy war”. The United Nations decided to respond to the North Korean invasion. Led by the United States, the UN Security Council invited 21 UN members to send troops to Korea under the command of General Douglas MacArthur to restore the southern part of Korea.
...nown reason Pascal seemed to think it was not necessary to acknowledge that there are more belief systems then Agnosticism, atheism, and Christianity. It is this lack of reasoning of why we should make a wager on the existence of the Christian god over the gods of Hinduism or the god of Islam that makes Pascal’s argument so weak. The only conclusion I think one could reach from Pascal’s argument is that it is more beneficial for one to believe in at least a higher power than it is to be an agnostic or atheist. Even if one did acknowledge the existence of some sort of higher being or beings it would still not benefit an individual because the chance of selecting the true belief system out of an infinite number of possible belief systems makes it very unlikely for someone to ever make the right choice. In conclusion I feel that Pascal’s Wager is a very weak argument.
Winfrey was born in rural Mississippi where her grandmother was so poor that she would sometimes dress Oprah in clothes made from potato sack and for that, she would get teased by her classmates. Grandma Lee was also rather strict as she would beat Oprah with a stick if she misbehaved or didn't sing the church hymns and choirs correctly. But despite being poverty stricken and strict, her grandmother was very encouraging and taught Oprah how to read the bible before the age of three.
Here in the United States of America on the forth Thursday in November each year we, as a nation and as individual families, celebrate Thanksgiving. For most Americans we bring out our best dishes and have an enormous meal with turkey, dressing, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. Families gather together, we eat until we are stuffed, we play games and watch football, but why? Have we lost the true meaning behind the beginning our nation? We have our tradition but somehow we have lost them important meaning of the treacherous start of a nation. Like various other cultures that have a celebration of thanks the Jews have a Passover celebration with rich family meal inundated with tradition and meaning. They have not forgotten why they celebrate. The hardship that they endured and the pivotal point in the transformation of their freedom to a better life is vividly remembered with Passover each year and passed down from generation to generation. If we reincorporate the true story of thanksgiving into our celebrations, we should be able to ensure a change in ourselves and our families to come together and become a stronger nation.
Judaism is one of the most widely practiced religions in the world. It is also the oldest monotheistic religion, originating at least 3,000 years ago. There are three different kinds of Judaism, Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform. Orthodox is the most traditional and had changed very little over the years. Conservative has changed to fit the times without losing much tradition. Reform Judaism is most modern of the three. No matter which kind of Judaism someone practices, in order to be considered Jewish they must practice Jewish traditions, observe Jewish law, and believe in God.

The demarcation line dividing Korea into two parts has led a nation to become polarized and also terminated the history of Korea as a single nation. The division of the country by an artificial line gave rise to more problems than solving the existing ones. While the United States was determined to create a trusteeship in the country, which would give its place to independent Korea after five or ten years, the Soviet Union opposed to the idea of an immediate independence. The Soviet Union had an intention to establish communism functioning in Korea. The United States, on the other hand, was not willing to l...

Pascal originally proposed his idea in the Pensées, a collection of fragments of his work, primarily written to defend the Christian religion. Although Pascal clearly supports the existence of a supreme being, he is relatively unimpressed by attempted justifications of a God at the time, and he concedes that “we are then incapable of knowing either what He is or if He is” (Pascal 233). Instead, he formulates different arguments, which can be framed as the following:
Blaise Pascal was born on June 19, 1623. Pascal was a mathematician along with a Christian philosopher who wrote the Pensees which included his work called Pascal’s wager. The crucial outline of this wagers was that it cannot be proved or disprove that God does exists. There are four main parts to the wager that include his reasoning to that statement. It has been acknowledged that Pascal makes it clear that he is referring to the Christian God in his wager. This is the Christian God that promises his people will be rewarded with eternal life along with infinite bliss.
