Macbeth, a tragic play, was written by William Shakespeare in the early sixteen hundreds. Macbeth is known for being one of Shakespeare’s shortest tragedies. This drama depicts the rapid and brutal rise of a warrior named Macbeth to the throne because of three witches that had given him an unbelievable, dream-fulfilling prophecy.

Macbeth began authorizing murders on any competitor he may have, even Banquo and his son. Macbeth slaughtered the family of Macduff, a powerful man who has left Scotland to join Duncan’s exiled son, Malcolm in a rebellion against Scotland. Meanwhile, Lady Macbeth becomes deranged from the crimes and evil acts she and her husband has committed and eventually ends her own life. Macbeth becomes extremely depressed as he waits for Malcolm and Macduff to invade Scotland. However, he found comfort in the second prophecy the witches had given him. The second prophecy said that no one born of a woman could harm Macbeth, he won’t die until the Great Birnam Wood comes against him, and beware of Macduff.
A motif in this play is violence. In this play, there is a numerous amount of violence that takes place while Macbeth is the King. There are two bloody battles in this play. The first battle Macbeth is a warrior, he kills the traitor of the king as a good deed and in the second battle he is being beheaded by Macduff for all of the evil deeds he committed to become the King of Scotland. To begin with, Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare that believed to have taken place around 1606. This play dramatizes the physical, emotional, and psychological effects of those who seek power for ones’ sake. In this play a Scottish General named Macbeth receives predictions from three witches that voice him he will one day become the King of Scotland. With determination his wife takes action convincing him to murder King Duncan therefore he would become king. Macbeth then becomes paranoid and filled with guilt, forcing him to commit more murders to protect himself from suspicion. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth then receive the madness of death.
Thirdly, feelings of paranoia and guilt cause Macbeth characters to make damaging choices. When Macbeth asks the witches to reveal the truth of their prophecies to him, they summon horrible apparitions, each of which offers a prediction to allay Macbeth’s fears. First, a floating head warns him to beware Macduff. Macbeth says that he has already guessed as much. Later when Lennox enters and tells Macbeth that Macduff has fled to England. Macbeth in reply says, “The castle of Macduff I will surprise; / Seize upon Fife; give to th'edge o'th'sword / His wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls / That trace him in his line.” (4.1.149-152). As Macbeth descends to madness he becomes obsessed with eliminating any threats to his power. Macbeth orders the murderers to kill Macduff's family and eliminate any threat to him. When Macbeth informs Macduff of the prophecy, which Macbeth thinks, will protect him and will allow him to maintain hold over Scotland, Macduff now makes it know that he was not born of woman. The third piece of fate is now complete; Macbeth can be killed. Macduff becomes assured that he can defeat Macbeth for he was not born of a woman. With this new knowledge Macduff knows that he must be the one to kill Macbeth and secure Malcolm’s right to the throne. The main theme that is presented throughout the whole movie is power. There are many ways power and thirst of power can be seen from many different perspectives. Macbeth gets sucked into the world of power and wealth that he is ready to commit many murderous acts to defend his crown. He is ready to killed Macduff’s family, in order to get rid of the fact that there was a chance of him getting the throne. Although at the start of the movie, he is quite hesitant to commit any murderous act, but as the movie goes on, Macbeth gets paranoid and blinded by his own power that he chooses to go against morals. As also mentioned, it is said that the previous king also killed the prior king in order to gain the title. Conclusively, it is quite a contest for power and therefore conscience, friendship and trust are completely forgotten.
