The A part.
In the short story “A Gap Of Sky” we follow the young girl, Ellie. Through the story we see Ellies life. Her life contain mostly parties like any regular teenage girl. With includes booze and drugs. She attends the university, she lives in London. The thing that get her out of the crows is that she is spending her nights out in London’s pubs and bares, instead of doing her homework to the next day at school.
One day 4 pm, she woke up after a toff night out with booze and drugs on a rooftop, she didn´t even knew where she where. She still had drugs in her blood, she was happy. When she got down from the rooftop, she remembered that she need a printer because of an essay of Virginia Wolf and some cigarettes.
I get that impression that her life is very toof to handle. She has become accustomed to be surrounded by people, who is drunk or mostly high. Ellie has a hard time realizing that her drinking and drugs problem is overtaking and it is time to realize the consequences, she is having a hard time to keep up with the assignments.
The story is third person narrator it is written in stream of consciousness. Which helps to give the impression that Ellie might be under the influence of a drug. Throughout the story Ellie has a hard time keeping focus; even though she realizes that it will have serious consequences if she doesn’t hand in her assignment, she keeps not so good her concentration, she becomes very easily distracted, and she decides to go to a museum because she has never been there before.
The write method are very well considered cause it indicates that Ellie is young teenager girl ans some of the words is typical used by young teenagers, and typical girls are using more emotional words.

Another way is that the gap could be a kind of opening of a new life, To get back on your feet again.
Many people are moving to the city and get a apartment, and living a social life with light that never shoots off, but why she is in a city is that the big city is like castle it protects you, and in her case it could by expectations from other people. And that s one of the most important things in this text, that it is a reflection of insecurity.
In the end I want to end of with a poem about city life in London. I think it reflects many things that London has, and that’s why I choose that poem. By William Cheesman.

Me to myself in this bustling city
The only place I can be truly happy
A city of many sides, clam or busy
A city with many atmospheres, alive or moody.
To the urban lifestyle of growing up in the ghettos and the hardships. She depicts the usages of drugs, gang, crime, poverty, teen pregnancy and mostly how it effects the community. But also shows how the outside violence comes into the home and can devastate the natural order of the household.
When Marie tries to ask the protagonist to take a walk, this action shows that she is trying to achieve Pauline’s dream by getting her outside of the house. Therefore, she could finally feel the true meaning of freedom. Nevertheless, Pauline’s mother’s response demonstrates that she wants her daughter’s safety more than anything. The mother tries to keep Pauline away from the danger, so the protagonist can at last have a healthier life. However, Agathe’s reply shows that her mother is willing to sacrifice Pauline’s dream to keep her secure. Therefore, the author uses contrasting characters to mention that safety is more valuable. Furthermore, the protagonist starts to describe Tante Marie and reveals that she always has her hair “around her shoulder” (85). When Pauline describes Marie, Pauline shows how her Tante is open-minded. In fact, Marie helps Pauline to let go of her limitations and to get a taste of her dream. Therefore, Marie always wants Pauline to go outside and play hockey or even to take a walk. These actions that Pauline’s Tante takes show how she is determinate to make Pauline’s dream come true. Inevitably, loneliness will overpower any other foul emotion and influence a person to make a change. This is seen in everyday life as people are constantly searching for attention, new comrades or someone to relate with. When analyzing this paragraph I saw it as a perfect foreshadowing of the development that this character will undergo. At this point, her years of solitude have most likely scarred her socially, emotionally and psychologically, but eventually she will find the courage to venture out of her comfort zone. Other notable elements within the excerpt include Morrison’s eloquent and epic writing style equally matched by her ability to connect with the reader emotionally. Many of the sentences within this short paragraph could be extracted as quotes to demonstrate a theme. For example the sentence, “Veiled and protected by the live green walls, she felt ripe and clear, and salvation was as easy as a wish,” allows for the reader to search their memory for their own experience of salvation or serenity. While this remains a great paragraph, the amazing thing is that much of the book is filled to the brim with powerful

One might think this because she looked up to her art teacher so much and admired her; Ellen’s mind is full of creativity and ideas. When Ellen’s school found out that her dad was abusive to her they put her up at her art teacher’s house. Ellen says “I came a long way to get here but when you think about it really hard you will see that old Starletta came even farther… And all this time I thought I had the hardest row to hoe” Like Ellen did, it is important for everyone to look back into their life and see what they have learned. Doing so cannot change ones past but only add to their future. Ellen will always carry the horrors of her childhood with her but by using all of her assets that she gained throughout the book her future can be enriched.
The theme that has been attached to this story is directly relevant to it as depicted by the anonymous letters which the main character is busy writing secretly based on gossip and distributing them to the different houses. Considering that people have an impression of her being a good woman who is quiet and peaceful, it becomes completely unbecoming that she instead engages in very abnormal behavior. What makes it even more terrible is the fact that she uses gossip as the premise for her to propagate her hate messages not only in a single household but across the many different households in the estate where she stays.

She writes about how running away and cutting her ties with all her drug user friends didn't help her stop. It also taught me the extent of what drugs can do to you by her getting so high to the point of imagining maggots eating at her body.

Marita Bonner starts her short essay by describing the joys and innocence of youth. She depicts the carefree fancies of a cheerful and intelligent child. She compares the feelings of such abandonment and gaiety to that of a kitten in a field of catnip. Where the future is opened to endless opportunities and filled with all the dream and promises that only a youth can know. Ever since she was a young girl. Jeannette had set high goals for herself. Since she was so advanced in school and genuinely enjoyed learning, it made sense that she would want to do big things with her life. Whether it was being a veterinarian or a geologist, her dreams extended far beyond her homes in little desert towns or Welch, West Virginia. However, because of her poverty-stricken home life, many people believed it didn’t seem likely that she would be so successful. One day, while living in Welch, Jeannette goes to the bar to drag her drunk father back home. A neighborhood man offers them a ride back to their house, and on the ride up he and Jeannette start a conversation about school. When Jeannette tells the man that she works so hard in school because of her dream careers, the man laughs saying, “for the daughter of the town drunk, you sure got big plans” (Walls 183). Immediately, Jeannette tells the man to stop the car and gets out, taking her father with her. This seems to be a defining moment in which Jeannette is first exposed to the idea that she is inferior to others. Although this man said what he did not mean to offend her, Jeannette is clearly very hurt by his comment. In the poem “The City of the End of Things” by Archibald Lampman he paints an image of a dystopian and mechanical future. The theme of this poem is a prediction of the natural world 's destruction and of the current industrialized future. Humans cannot live without nature, thus with the destruction of the natural world comes the downfall of humanity.
