While William Wordsworth’s poem, “The Ruined Cottage,” mostly focuses on the tragic telling of the lives within the namesake cottage, it truly centers around the degradation of the cottage itself. Starting with the second stanza, we see that the home is well kept and bustling with the lives of its inhabitants, but with each following passage a member of the house is lost and another piece of the cottage is left to nature.
