A book titled Taken, by Edward Bloor is a fascinating story of adventure and kidnapping that is set in the year 2035. In this futuristic book, kidnapping is a rather common practice. Children that are raised by very rich families were often the ones that are kidnapped, or "taken" because the parents could provide more ransom money. For this reason, all rich children would move in highly secured neighborhoods, and hire butlers that doubled as security guards. The children were then required to take classes on what to do if they are taken. In the story the protagonist, Charity Meyers wakes up in an ambulance and discovers that she has been taken. She follows all of her training and does exactly what she is told to do by her kidnappers. There are several kidnappers who are named Dr. Reyes, Dr. Lanyon, and another person who does not reveal himself until later in the book. Naturally, the reader is very angry at the kidnappers for doing such a horrible thing to a child. The author then takes the story to a place in which no one ever expected him to. Edward Bloor attempts to make the reader empathize with the antagonists. The ways in which he does this are very interesting. He uses three particular methods to achieve the goal of causing the reader to empathize with the "bad guys". These methods include having the antagonists reveal themselves as someone else, having the antagonists tell about all of the hardships that they have endured, and having the antagonists explain why they did something evil (such as kidnapping).

Betrayal is clearly defined as to break the faith of an enemy, or to disclose a violation of confidence; but more specifically, and with less clarity in real life situations, betrayal is a complex action that occurs to everyone at some point in life. For a person that has been betrayed before, the simple definition does not do justice to the effects betrayal has on their life or how one can be betrayed. Apparent examples can be seen in Their Eyes Were Watching God, for the main character is clearly betrayed many times in her life.

Tricked paints a portrait of the seediness, degradation, and dehumanizing world of sex trafficking. This documentary takes a viewer on an emotional ride into a darker side of humanity. Albeit the show only skims the surface, from the exploited victims, to the pimps who control them, the johns that supply the money, and the police force who are trying to abolish it, it is a harrowing reality check for most viewers. Victims of sex trafficking are stripped of their basic human rights and forced to live a life of modern slavery. The U.S. State Department (Stop Child Trafficking Now, 2012) has stated that human trafficking is “one of the fastest growing crimes in the world.” It it hard to put a number on how on many people are living inside the sex trafficking industry for many reasons, one being that not all victims come forward. Behind every transaction is violence or the threat of violence (Axtell par. 4). Just a decade ago, only a third of the countries studied by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime had legislation against human trafficking. Sex trafficking is a form of contemporary slavery that induces and forces people into a commercial sex trade against their will. Many factors contribute to the sex trade and the exploitation occurs mostly to women and children. Through the age, gender, class, and race many are trapped in a never-ending cycle of coercion and abuse in order to survive in the corrupt society around them.
As of 2012, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) reported that there were approximately half a million children working in the sex trade in Brazil (“Alarming Number”). Although children sex trafficking is a worldwide ordeal, a focus has turned to Brazil with the upcoming World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in Summer 2016. Even though some children and teenagers turn back to sex slavery after being helped to escape the trade, people should still step in and help take a stand to prevent child sex trafficking and the attention of the World Cup and the Olympics are helping to amplify a problem that already exists.

Sex trafficking is the sexual exploitation of human rights, especially those of women and children (UNODC). Sex trafficking is a major issue within feminist debates with differing opinions. This paper analyzes the different factors responsible for sex trafficking that arise from an interaction between Nigeria and the global community. Also, it would review the victim narrative that stem from these debates on sex trafficking and sex work. From the analysis below, the victim narrative is not beneficial to trafficked sex workers.
