When I arrived in New York City, an employee of the office of immigration affairs was present to receive a batch of immigrants. He led me to the office of immigration affairs and presented me with plenty of options on how to begin my life in the United States and claim the ideals of “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness” for myself (Alchin). For the time being I may either pick up a low paying job in one of New York’s many businesses, search for work in the myriad of low skilled industrial factories, or seek out opportunities in agriculture.
