I'm writing my paper on what all goes into being a Secret Service Agent. This paper will explain what responsibilities Secret Service Agents have. What courses that they have to go through to become a Secret Service Agent. Most people hear the term Secret Service Agent and automatically think about the men in the suits and glasses guarding the President of The United States. That’s only a small portion of what Secret Service Agents do. A Secret Service Agent has two main missions; that I will mention later on. The United States Secret Service Agent is one of the oldest type of law enforcements in the country, but its ranked the best in the world. In 1901, the agency was asked to begin its protective mission after President William McKinley was assassinated. Sometimes an agent will be 60 days on, then 30 days off. The schedule varies because it depends when the president is home or gone somewhere. If he’s away somewhere, that can mean less time at home for the SSA. The average secret service agent salary ranges from, $43,964-$74,891. (secret Service agent info.com. ) If they are very high up agents I guess you would say, they can makeup too $163,000 a year. You could be working in a different area. It's not all just protecting the president the whole time and just doing Crime Investigations. There are two types of jobs that Secret Service Agents have. 1. The Protective Mission- Protects the White House, Government Officials, President and his Family.2. The Investigative Mission- They investigate in fraud and stolen identity.
