In addition, if they fail to meet those expectations, they are then at the urge by the ceremonial leader as to whether or not they may continue with the “marriage”. In this essay I will argue how they are benefiting society and the discrimination that they are facing and why same sex couples should have the freedom to love and marry to their partner. Can you imagine how it would feel if you were told you could not marry the one you love? Many homosexual couples are facing this mayhem in their life. But did you know that this is a form of discrimination?

A marriage is ultimately two people that are serious and love each other, gender takes no place when a person really takes time to think about what a marriage actually is. Regardless, there is always going to be two views on gay marriage; it is up to each individual to decide which view they agree with. Gay marriage should be legally recognized, what is so right about a heterosexual marriage compared to homosexuals?

Marriage is taking someone as one’s wife or husband. The revised definition is the formal union of a man and a woman. Homosexual couples that want to get married shows that they want a commitment to each other for a life time just like heterosexuals have legally, not an order of domestic partnerships The Human Rights Campaign Foundation states that many same-sex couples “want the right to legally marry [and] honor their relationship in the greatest way our society has to offer…”(Gay). Having homosexual marriages by law isn’t hurting anyone nor society. It is an ultimate expression of love and is a personal vow that’s really not anyone’s business.
Proponents argue that homosexuals should have access to the same marriage benefits and public acknowledgment enjoyed by heterosexual couples and that prohibiting same-sex marriage is unconstitutional discrimination. They have built their arguments around the concept of equality in America. As this country was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, they believe it is hypocritical to deny the rights of homosexuals. Same sex marriages should not be banned because it is untraditional; but should be recognized like any other marriage involves love and it might be different but we all should be recognized as equals. For example, some people think that letting homosexual become an official union redefines the idea of marriage all together. (Rauch) Rauch states, “ I think the best definition of marriage is the one that most married people sign up for in their vows; “To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness or in health, until death do us part.” Extending the boundaries to include gay couples does not weaken that definition-it reinforces it.” The gay community embodies the idea of loving no matter who they are we should not pass judgment on them because they are not the pretty picture of a happy ma and women behind their white picket fence with children. Most Americans often believe that same sex marriages will diminish the value of the marriage itself. Which is a false conclusion based on a bias premise.

People against gay marriage do not have the right to deny people of showing their love for one another. Everyone deserves the same rights as Americans and also just as people. The United States of America promotes freedom, liberty, and justice for all people. Same-sex couples are many times not included when it comes to marriage rights. Denying people to get married is a form of discrimination.
