Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education (Martin Luther King Jr). Education is not preparing for life but it is life on its own since it is subjected to change. Education had been define differently but all these definition evolve around particular aspect which are: the teacher, leaners, and the development skills and knowledge. The purpose of education is not only to produce mere scholars, technicians, and job hunters, but it is to integrate men and women who are free of fear; for only between such human beings can there be enduring peace. Other philosophers may argue that education is not only for young people since education have no limit or age restriction and, some very old people do go school or varsities to obtain their matric certificates or degrees. Most adult did not wanted to attend those afternoon classes and those who attended them did not take those classes serious e.g. they did not complete homework’s given by their teachers, this was because they had ideology that education is not for them it only for children, even today the attendance of adult schools is very poor. People are being given chance to improve their education including older people so that at least they can be able to write, read and do basic mathematics. The society have a big influence in shaping education because education is considered to be good if it meets the needs of the society, though this may be argued because it’s also depends on how individual understand education. “Ancient knowledge and skills loses value from time to time, since education changes with respect to time” (Hailey, 1945, p.1260). Looking at the general aims of the CAP Statement (2012) are to promote equity among leaners, irrespective of their socio-economic background, race, gender, physical ability or intellectual ability, with knowledge, skills and values necessary for self-fulfillment and participation in society as citizens of a free country (department of Education, 2012: 3). The above aims are the exact goals of the society ever since apartheid education died.
