To Be or Not To Be A Criminal? When you think of a criminal what do you think of? A person who breaks the law? A person who did a deed gone wrong? How about a person who is thought to have murdered someone but with only little to no evidence? Well there are many different aspects of criteria to consider and also many different circumstances or situations that may arise when it comes down to identifying someone as a criminal. One could easily define a criminal as one who breaks the law, one who endangers the people around them and themselves, and that they are not doing the crime for the greater good. Casey’s friend said that “she had discussed giving the baby up for adoption, but was discouraged by her mother” (Bio). Without proceeding with the adoption process, Casey and Caylee stayed at the grandmother’s house for the next few years. After staying with close people like your family for that long of a time can bring tensions into the household and this is what happened to this family. Over the course of mid-October of 2008 to April 13 of 2009 Casey pleads not guilty to the murder charges. All the charges were dropped and the State Attorney Office stated that they would not seek the death penalty on Casey, until a utility worker finds skeletal remains near the Anthony’s home. They were confirmed to be Caylee’s on December 19 and that is when the prosecutors announce that they would seek the death penalty.
May 24, 2011 is when the capital murder trial begins for Casey Anthony. Casey’s defense attorney says that “Caylee drowned in the Anthony family pool on June 16, 2008, and that George and Casey Anthony covered up the death” (CNN). When she testifies to the court she becomes upset and ill during the court session so the judge decided to call the court into recess for the day.
