Sacrifices are made by many people, for many reasons. Some people sacrifice animals (or other people- yikes!) while others sacrifice time, energy, love, devotion, and even their lives for the benefits of the world around them. Teachers sacrifice a lot of things to bring knowledge, joy, and understanding to the young people of America. At Hillside Junior High School, teachers are not treated as well as they should be for the sacrifices they make every day. Teachers at Hillside are people who devote their working lives and free time to educating the youth of Boise, Idaho in order to make the world a better place. And, for people who devote that much time and energy to doing this, they don’t get even half of the appreciation and kindness they deserve. Teachers at Hillside are often paid little respect, money, and are often thought of negatively by the students and, occasionally, administration of our school. The lack of respect, monetary gain, and the negative viewpoints many students have of the teachers at Hillside Junior High School is unnecessary, to say the least. This is also mentioned a lot by students who are known to be rude, disruptive, or violent during class time and towards teachers. Teachers deserve the power they have, because they need that power to keep order in the classroom. While it is true that some teachers are too controlling or harsh, most are not and are able to control themselves and keep the peace in the classroom. It is important to keep in mind that most teachers do not abuse their power, and the majority are kind-hearted, passionate people that care about the wellbeing of students.
