In the Commentary translated and edited by Gerald L. Bray he states that Romans 12:9 “speaks about loving another not to just get praised in this life time, but rather to be pleasing to God.” God wants us to love one another, so why is it wrong for two people of the same sex to love another more than just brothers? To be truly pleasing to God we must permit those who are in love to commit to each other to the highest degree of commitment a relationship may undergo, marriage. Love is the key to a successful marriage. If you are marrying someone for a reason that is not love, then you are not fulfilling the commitment of marriage. Marriage is a lifetime commitment. When someone gets marry they make a vow to the other person that they will stay in the marriage through sickness and hardship. How can someone stay in a marriage with bumps in the road if there is no love. At the first opportunity the person will leave. That is why love is crucial for a marriage to be successful.
